About me

Hi, I'm Johnice.

A cybersecurity student who wants to understand how technology really works, and then build something useful with it.

I'm pursuing a cybersecurity education and exploring opportunities in systems engineering, networking, cloud infrastructure and artificial intelligence.

What draws me to technology is the same thing that has always drawn me to houses and architecture: I want to know how things are put together. Why does this work? What's holding it up? What happens if I change this one piece? Networks, servers and cloud platforms are full of those questions, and I enjoy chasing the answers.

How I got here

My path hasn't been a straight line. I always wanted to be an architect, but that wasn't financially realistic for me at the time. Since then I've worked as a caregiver, earned my real estate license in Michigan, and bought my first home. I've also always been passionate about technology and automation.

Building my homeownership website, Johnice Edwards Realty, gave me a taste of putting something real on the internet, from writing content to configuring DNS. Now I'm studying cybersecurity and building the technical foundation to go further.

What I bring

Curiosity

I'd rather understand why something works than memorize that it does.

Creativity

I like finding unexpected ways to make technology useful, and making it look good too.

Willingness to learn

I'm honest about what I don't know yet, and I put in the work to close the gap.

Building for real problems

The best projects solve something actual people care about. That's what I aim for.

What I'm working toward

I want to become a systems or cloud engineer: someone who designs, secures and automates the infrastructure other people rely on. I'm especially interested in where infrastructure and AI meet, from automating routine operations to building AI agents that do genuinely helpful work.

I'm open to connecting with people in the industry, and to opportunities where I can learn from experienced engineers and contribute. If that sounds like you, I'd love to hear from you.

What I'm learning right now

These change often. The home page always has the latest.

Outside of tech

I'm an introvert and a proud homebody. I love beautiful homes and architecture, and I write about them on my homeownership journal. My ideal evening involves a comfortable room, something interesting to learn, and a project I can't stop tinkering with.
